Toothpick Designs
are becoming more and more interesting. I am not referring to the actual design of a toothpick, but rather the designs that can be made from putting a load of toothpicks together (or matchsticks for that matter).

Toothpick designs have basically the same overall considerations to be taken into account when building a toothpick model, except of course that they are generally tapered at the ends and ten to be thinner than matchsticks, which means that you would probably need more toothpicks than matches to build and identical model.

Also when building a matchstick model, it looks like it would be easier to lock them together using offsetting and staggered match placement making the model potentially stronger than a toothpick counter-part.

However, it is obviously possible to make great toothpick designs as some of the photos on this page show.

The artists here have chosen to go for the “toy” look rather than the “art” look and although they are not as huge and complex as some on this site, I still think that these toothpick designs are both unique and an excellent form of displaying the art we have.

These would make superb gifts or ornaments around the house and even though they still take some considerable amount of time to make, would make great Christmas gifts.

Care obviously needs to be taken around small kids or animals as the points of these toothpick designs would render a nasty blow!

Again I can see another great way of not only entertaining ourselves, but also a way to generate income. I am sure that there are a lot of people around your neighbor hood who would be interested in making these models for you for a share of the profits. this could be a cool way of helping out the community in employment
and possible fund raising ideas.

If anyone has any models that you would like to sell from my site, please contact me and let me know or if indeed you would like to advertise your company here again please contact me anytime and show me your toothpick designs.

Toothpick Sculptures

Toothpick Sculptures like I have never seen before. Every now and then something incredibly mind blowing and inspiring comes into your life and for me this has happened to me while researching information for this site.

I came across Toothpick Sculptures and Toothpick Art. Now I am not saying that Matchstick Kits are not incredible, they indeed are, but some of the art I have found recently is simply incredible and I have never ever thought of doing it. Over the next few days I will be bringing you samples of what i have found – so hang around as it is simply awesome.

Today I will show you some work that started the incredible search into toothpick sculptures for me. I found this and then went searching. Now I have not only never seen this kind of art, but I never even thought of it until today, but I think this has inspired me to give it a try at least. I cannot imagine how long it takes to make this kind of art and iI am also not sure if he paints the toothpicks in advance or if they are naturally different colors from the manufacturer but I am going to research.

I think some of these pictures are worthy of display in museums and can challenge the originals. The originals may have been painted by some of the great master, but I think these artists are also great masters and not only have a great skill, but they have come up with something very unique.

It seems that they use the toothpicks standing on end and they pre-cut them to different sizes before laying them down on a template for their toothpick sculptures. I love the way they also seem to achieve shading not only using the color of the toothpicks, but I think by also changing the density of the toothpicks they use in any one area.

Toothpick Sculptures are not new, but I have only just come across this art form and this is something I would like to investigate further, so if you know of any other artists that are working with either matchsticks or with toothpicks or you know of any photos that should be included in this site, please let me know so I can check them out.

These toothpick sculptures are actually a combination of hammered nails, matchsticks and toothpicks and are made by Saimir Strati who is Albanian. I would like to thank the amazing arts site for the original article about these amazing toothpick sculptures.
