Toothpick Sculpture by Steven Backman who is originally from San Francisco. He began creating these incredible toothpick sculptures since he was a kid during a school project making a DNA molecule.
Later in life he designed a cable car toothpick sculpture for an art project (actually in 1984) while he was at the State University where he actually got a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
In 1985 he began construction of the Golden Gate Bridge and it took him 2 years to finish it and he used over 30,000 toothpicks.
It was a massive 13 feet long and is reported to be on display at the Ripley’s “believe it or not “ exhibit in California.
The boat you see featured in the photo below is actually a radio controlled boat and really works. It’s made from 10,000 toothpicks.
His latest toothpick sculpture works are abstracts, some of which you can see here. I don’t know about you, but I think his work is truly beautiful and deserves a place on this site. For more of his art take a look at his site. Thank you to you for the use of 5 of your photos and I hope I have done your art justice. Incredible Toothpick Sculptures.
