Wood Ship Model – Titanic Matchstick Model

Wood ship modelA wood ship model is most likely to float. After all there are not only ships, but they are also made of wood. So one would hope so!

This wood ship model is very unique in that it is an exact replica of the Titanic and like the real ship it took a long time to build. Some say 15 years others say 17 – either way it is a long time, a lot of glue and a heap of matches.

A guy called Tim Elkins, from England, lovingly build this wood ship model completely out of matchsticks and it took him over 3,500 hours. Builder completes Titanic matchstick model – 15 years after he started it.

It comprises of over 147,000 separate matches all lovingly put together by hand! Now while he did in the end get paid about $12,000 for it, it will hardly make him a decent living taking so long, but boy I tell you I would mind building something just like this myself.

The titanic wood ship model is over 8 feet long and has over 1600 portholes. I hope they close them so the timber doesn’t get wet.
